WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATES AS THEY HAPPEN |
Dangers of feeding dogs’ grapes and raisins.
My 4 ½ year old Lab managed to get hold of a bunch and within
24 hours was diagnosed with acute kidney failure, he is still seriously
ill and I would not like to see other people watching there pets get
so poorly so quickly. My vet was unaware of the fact grapes are toxic
in large quantities, but fortunately for me the nurse had read something
in passing so bloods were taken very quickly. It is still too early
to say what Scooby’s outcome will be, but the death rate from
cases in America would appear to be 50:50.If this could just get people
talking and thinking twice of using these foods as training treats
it would be a great start to preventing these deaths or at least getting
them treatment early. As yet the reasons are unknown as to what causes
the problems but pesticides and sprays have been ruled out. |

| SCUNTHORPE Sunday, 8 August
Due to unexpected work on the level crossing at Appleby on the morning
of Sunday, 8 August, we have had to issue alternative directions
to the SCUNTHORPE show venue. This just affects those travelling
to the show on Sunday only.
The revised route as follows: Take Exit 3 from M180 onto M181, signposted
Scunthorpe West and Centre. Go straight over five roundabouts, following
A1077 to Winterton. Just past the Winterton Town signs, at the Mini
Roundabout, bear right on B1430 (Earlsgate). At the next mini roundabout,
take the second exit onto High Street. Keep on this road. It will
evolve into Market Street, King Street, then Park Street. At the
next mini roundabout, go straight across. The venue entrance is
on your left.
To emphasise, this only affects competitors travelling to the show

Tatton Park
We have discovered that there will be a firework display
held at Tatton park on Saturday the 19th June during our show. We
feel it is important to try inform all competitors in case your dogs
have a problem with fireworks. The display is a finale to a classical
concert, we assume from the advertising it will be around 10pm and
held in another section of the park. Hopefully it will not be over
a sustained period. We have not been informed of this by the Tatton
Park management but discovered the event through advertising. Although
we were not aware of this problem prior to today (13/06/04) NHDTC
wish to apologise for any problems the concert fireworks may cause. |
| Wyre (Lancs) Agility Club Cartmel Show on the 5th
& 6th June
' Wyre (Lancs) Agility Club is pleased to say that extra camping
on adjoining fields has been secured at Cartmel so all camping applications
have been accommodated. The applications have been allocated strictly
on a first-come-first-served basis, so anyone whose entry arrived
in the last couple of weeks is not in the usual area, will not be
camped with their requested group and the camping pass will show
LATE or OVERFLOW instead. We have no objection to the swapping of
passes between campers before arriving at the venue, but cannot
become involved in this. Pitches will be allocated on arrival according
to the pass shown. These areas are accessed from the village car
park and are on the far side of the race track (Off the yellow camping
area)'.
Thank You

| Wyre (Lancs) Agility Club's Cartmel Show on 5/6/04
& 6/6/04
'Wyre Agility Club has regretfully had to close camping at Cartmel
and turn away some applications. This has been made necessary due
to building work on the site which is still not finished and also
the fact there will be a race meeting taking place on the weekend
before our show. We are really sorry for those who have been disappointed
but had to make the decision now on the basis of the information
given to us and restrictions imposed on us by the owners of the
site. All camping entries which have been received after camping
has closed will be contacted as soon as possible.

Upanova Tigers wish Jayne Bray
and Raeven, (Special Edition at Upanova) all the very best now that
you have achieved Advanced status by winning your fourth agility
class at the Easter Celebration on Sunday 20th April. This is richly
deserved for all the time and effort put in to this little dog behind
the scenes, for not giving up on her but concentrating on her whilst
Alan ran Buzzy and for all the training headaches you have created
for Alan as Raeven is one turbo -charged little girl with a mind
of her own squeals all the way round and who always has to have
the last word, (Although I blame Mary Ray for that as Raeven is
just like Dash, her father). Raeven has always had a hard act to
follow as you took both the agility champion herself, Portia the
champagne poodle and Buzzy Bad Boy to advanced so you have now achieved
it with all three of your working dogs, now that's some achievement!
Does this mean you want Buzzy back off of Alan now or can Diane
Talbot run him from now onwards as I am only used to girls whilst
Di only runs boys! Alan P.S. And the same congratulations are due
to Paul Moore and Tyke for winning into advanced at the Easter show
as well! (But not for leaving my little Skylar into second place
again!) What a star he is eh? (That's Tyke not you Paul!) Jayne

Well Done Jayne Bray and Portia the Posh Poodle
Now I take a lot of stick from Jayne and everyone
else about this Poodle but I have to say a big well done to them
both in 2002 for virtually sweeping the board in Mini achievements!
So here goes, well done to Jayne and Portia in 2002 winning the
Olympia semi -final in September and then the double at Olympia
this Christmas including the mini singles final, (Sorry I couldn't
quite manage the grand slam with you but two out of three wins wasn't
bad going for Tiggy either plus Tiggy did win her Olympia semi final
as well so the Poodle hasn't had it all her own way!). Winning the
Agility Club Knockout Pairs final in June and then finishing Runners
- Up in the Maxi dogs final at the same event partnering with me
and Tiggy. Then Portia Winning the Supadog Mini final in June when
this time I did manage to win my final as well! Winning the Agility
Champion title in May through winning not just three Championship
Certificates but FIVE altogether with two Reserve Certificates thrown
in as well, (OK, so I only won one CC with Portia and a reserve
with both Portia and Tiggy but eh we can't all be superstars can
we?). Oh and I almost forgot, well done for winning the Eukanuba
Championship double at Crufts in 2002 as well as finishing Runners
- up in the Singles Knock -Out Final, well Tiggy did win the Senior
Singles and Individual Knock - out double in 2001! On top of this
Jayne has took Buzzy Bad Boy to Advanced in the Maxi classes and
also finished fourth in the Power and Speed Final with him whilst
Tiggy was unlucky to finish just slightly lower than that - much
to Alan Disberry's amusement on the commentary! And finally well
done to Portia for finishing fourth in the Agility Club Mini Dog
of the Year and Winning the Agility Eye Midlands Region Mini Dog
of the Year. Now can I talk about Tiggy and Skylar's places here?
What do you mean I've said enough and are out of time... Alan
Bray and Tiggy at UPANOVA ___________________________________________________ |
Agility Eye-Editorial Policy
Over the past 12 months we have had a number of occasions
where we have opted to print, or alternatively exclude, correspondence
and comments dealing with specific incidents and personnel. Our
action, or inaction, has led to us receiving critical comment.
In future, we shall not be printing, or commenting
on, any incidents which involve disputes either between individuals
or between persons and Clubs/Regulatory Authorities. We would advise

not through the magazine.
We are more than happy to write about or to print
your concerns where they are of a general nature, but not in relation
to specific instances. This way, the magazine can retain its integrity

which informs and entertains.
We trust you accept this arrangement in the positive
