The May issue will be posted out in the first week.

There is not a supplement this month.

Our editorial picks up on a topic which was debated at Council and is likely to remain under the spotlight in the coming months. It refers to the matter of the control of dogs at shows and the rise in the number of incidents of aggression which are being observed, if not reported. It's surely a 'no-brainer' that with an ever-increasing number of dogs at every show there will be more chance of confrontation but how serious is it and can the problem be addressed? We consider some of the options but also plead caution with regard to tightening up on rules and regulations which may only spoil the enjoyment of shows for all of us. There is a need for greater vigilance and consideration from the owners of challenging dogs but there is also a need to keep this in perspective and to solve the problem in-house.

The printing and publishing of show results in the supplement has become an increasingly expensive business and we need to increase charges to remain viable. We draw your attention to the fact that results are published on the web site and that they can be viewed here well in advance of publication.

The European Open qualifiers were held recently and we have a report on the days proceedings, with course plans and a brief analysis. Incidentally, the Kennel Club are due to announce that a team can also go to the WCs in Finland, so long as it is self-financing. A qualifying day is being arranged for late July.

We feature two award winners from last year (Elementary) and would like to hear from you if you were a winner in 2007. Just send a write-up and a photo and we will include in a future edition. The plaques for 2007 will soon be available and we shall distribute them as soon as we can.

The middle section of the magazine is again devoted to events at Crufts with results, reports, photos and course plans.

With the new season well under way, we publish the Top Five in each grade for the three heights. Club listings are also included.

My Name is Lee! -"I'm just trying to be a better person" . A new contributor introduces us to the game of "agility trumps" in which you compare the attributes of noteable handlers. In this session we turn over the cards to reveal some intetresting contests - Staines v Munnings, Dawkins v Chandler, Weaver v Derret, Stokoe v Robson...the list goes on. Bizarre!!

"Setting the Standard" looks behind the proposal for a fourth height and maps out some of the reasoning behind the initiative.

The show diary lists a load of contact details and most of the 2008 shows.
